Under the Inter-American Development Bank’s Emerging Cities Program and FINDETER, we drew up a sustainable occupation model in a sector traditionally known for frequent flooding in Barranquilla. This model seeks to generate alternative and sustainable solutions for water management, articulating the dynamics of nature with urban and connectivity systems, improving the structure of public spaces, re-densifying the city from its center and containing urban expansion to the North. This proposal is also a model that can be replicated in other locations where the urban fabric meets up with streams, creeks and the Magdalena River.
